Issue Position: Supporting Seniors

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2016
Issues: Senior Citizens

Thousands of seniors living on fixed incomes are struggling to pay for daily necessities such as food, shelter, and gasoline, and have found it increasingly difficult to maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle. This has only become more difficult with rising sales and property taxes.

For these fixed-income Kansans and their families, I will continue to fight for lower sales and property taxes, and support community-based programs, such as those provided by Community Nutrition Services (KCNS), can provide invaluable services.

By improving community-based programs and lowering sales and property tax rates, we can prevent thousands of seniors from facing waiting lists for essential services, and help many more stay in their own homes and continue to live independently.
